Assistance to M.Phil. & Ph.D. thesis for SC students (Maharaja Sayajirao Gayakvad Assistance) is a monthly stipend to students belonging to scheduled caste/scheduled tribes/other backward classes for thesis writing/printing-related expenses. This scholarship/assistance will be provided for 10 months in one year only.

The students who continue their higher studies (M.Phil./Ph.D.) and are from SC/ST/OBC communities face severe difficulties due to financial problems. They often face issues in continuing their studies, additionally, the expenses of thesis work are almost impossible to cover by the majority of students.
This assistance initiative adds additional support to students of higher studies. The ‘assistance to M.Phil./PhD. thesis’ provides sufficient aid for 10 months (for the final year) to easily meet their expenses related to final year thesis work. This facilitates SC /ST/OBC students to focus on their studies without worries about thesis expenses.
Eligibility Criteria
The following criteria are set to select eligible candidates for this ‘assistance to M.Phil. & Ph.D. thesis):
- Permanent resident of Gujarat, India
- Belong to Scheduled Caste/Tribes or Other Backward Classes
- Students should be doing M.Phil./Ph.D.
- The thesis work is submitted.
- Family income from all sources should not exceed 6 Lakh
Document Requirements
As the application (Assistance to M.Phil. & Ph.D. Thesis for SC/ST/OBC Students) will be submitted online at the Digital Gujarat Portal, all the required documents should be uploaded in soft copies as prescribed in the instructions.

- Identity proof / Adhaar Card
- Caste Certificate from the Competent Authorities
- First Leave / Page of Bank Passbook / Cancelled Cheque (Candidate/Father/Mother/Joint Account etc.)
- Educational Certificate / Marksheet (10/12/Graduation/Last attended)
- School Leaving Certification (If any)
- Death Certification of father (If not alive)
- Admission and fee receipt for current academic year
- Identity Card (School)
- Residence proof
- Hostel Certificate (If applicable)
- Certificate issued by Warden (For Hosteller students only)
- Break/Gap Affidavit (If gap is more than 1 year)
- Disability Certificate (If applicable and required)
- Fresh Income Certificate from competent authority (Form # 16 for Govt. Employees)
- Leave without pay certificate (If applicable)
- Domicile Certificate (If required)

The objective of this scholarship is to assist students of the SC/ST/OBC community by providing the following benefits so that they can easily finalize their thesis work.

Application Process
The M.Phil./Ph.D. students of the scheduled caste/scheduled tribes/other backward classes community who are in their final year and preparing their thesis can apply for this scholarship benefit at the Digital Gujarat Portal online. The steps are shown below:
- Click Register (Button at the top right corner) of Digital Gujarat Portal
- Enter necessary details (Mobile No., email, set password) and click save
- Bypass the above steps if you are already registered
- Now login using your mobile number/email and password
- Click “My Profile” and enter mandatory information as required
- Upload your picture and click “Update Profile”
- An OTP will be sent to you. Enter OTP and continue
- Bypass the above steps if you have already updated your profile
- Click “Service tab” then select “Scholarship Services”
- Click “SC Scheme” and select the financial year for which you are applying. click “Change Financial Year”
- Select the Scheme (Assistance to M.Phil./Ph.D. thesis) and follow the instructions
- Enter your information in the form and upload the required documents
- Now click “Save as Draft”
- Click on the check mark “I agree with the terms and conditions of this scholarship”
- Click Submit

These instructions should be followed for the success of your application
- Photograph is mandatory for the completion of the profile at the portal
- Incomplete applications may get rejection
- Payment for the scholarship will be reimbursed after the successful submission of the thesis
- If multiple applications are submitted either from single institution or several institutions. All the applications will be rejected
- Any wrong information which came in notice at any stage will lead to rejection of application
- Scanning of documents must be carefully done as per instructions provided at portal
- The application cannot be edited once submitted
- Oversized documents cannot be uploaded
- Unclear documents may lead to rejection of application
- Only online application will be entertained, no manual submitting is permitted for this scholarship
Mode of Payment
The scholarship (Assistance to M.Phil./Ph.D. Thesis) amount will be deposited into the student’s bank account through Direct Bank Transfer (DBT) as prescribed by the Government of India. The students can enjoy hassle-free transactions without standing in rows and depositing cheques etc.
