Steps for Customer

  1. The customer is required to submit the consent form with complete details, either manually or electronically, if concerned bank provides the facility.
  2. In case of manual submission, the consent form should be completed in all respect and signed. The customer signature should match with the bank’s record to be processed.
  3. For transferring the Aadhaar card linking from one bank to another, the customer must consult with the receiving bank and provide all necessary details, including the previous bank details where Aadhaar card was linked.
  4. Once the Aadhaar card linking is complete, the customer is required to approach the Gas Service Providers (GSP) and Oil Marketing Companies (OMC) for pending subsidy amounts.

Bank’s Responsibility

The bank must perform the following operations:

  1. Verify the consent form along with all details, including customer’s signature against the bank records.
  2. Once the bank is satisfied with the details, documents and signatures of customer, it will:
    • Process the Aadhaar card linking with customer’s bank account in the CBS system.
    • Update the NPCI mapping.
    • The IT team will upload mapper files, and NPCI will verify the records.
    • In case of any issue with the NPCI verification, the CBS team should make the necessary correction and resubmit the record for verification.
  3. Customer Service
    • In case of any issues with the Aadhaar seeding process, the bank must deal directly with NPCI and not refer customers to NPCI for verification.
    • If the Aadhaar number is shown active in bank’s CBS records, it does not necessarily mean that the NPCI mapping is also been completed. The bank should not share confidential records with the customer, such as CBS screens or share screenshots, claiming that the process is complete.
    • If a complaint is received regarding the Aadhaar not being linked, the bank ‘s IT team must resolve that matter directly with NPCI without involving the customer.

The customer’s brank team is responsible for linking Aadhaar with the bank, while the NPCI mapping is updated by the central team/IT division of the concerned bank

NPCI’s Responsibility

The following tasks will be performed by the NPCI team for mapping the Aadhaar card with bank accounts.

  1. NPCI will provide a mapping platform for banks to update or remove Aadhaar linking with their bank accounts.
  2. Direct submissions from individuals to NPCI will not be entertained, all applications must be submitted through their concerned banks.
  3. NPCI cannot update the mapper record without the involvement of the bank.

  5. NPCI is responsible for responding to banks’ requests, verifying the data provided by the banks and ensuring the availability of the mapping platform.

Complaint Resolution Guidelines

  1. If the Aadhaar number is not appearing in NPCI mapper, and the bank has processed the application after verification of the consent from submitted by the customer, the issue should be resolved by the concerned bank’s IT team
  2. If a customer or citizen wishes to approach NPCI, they should provide the consent form duly acknowledged by the bank along with the application to address the matter with the concerned bank.
  3. For unresolved matters, the customer can contact NPCI team at [email protected] with the Aadhar consent acknowledge copy issued by the concerned bank.

Note: Citizens can link their Aadhaar with only one bank at any time, If a customer submitted consent with multiple banks, the DBT or subsidy will be deposited into the most recently linked bank account that is mapped with NPCI. For failed or incomplete transactions to the customer’s bank account, the OMCs can be approached to resolve the issues.
